Best fabrics for swimwear

Update:08 Jul
The most suitable fabric for swimsuits is nylon fabric, which is composed of spandex and nylon (nylon), which is also the fabric of professional swimsuits. It is not suitable to use other fabrics for swimsuits, such as cotton, but polyester is also used to make swimsuits.
The advantages of nylon spandex swimsuits are bright colors, comfortable to wear, elastic, not deformed after repeated wearing, fast dripping, easy to wash and dry. The same is true for the raw materials of professional swimsuits, but the technical content in it will be higher, and it is generally treated specially. Such as reducing resistance, water repellent treatment and so on.
There are generally four basic types of swimsuit fabrics: DuPont Lycra, nylon, polyester, and spandex, which are also the most common types on the market.
1. Nylon fabrics - fabrics obtained by blending or interweaving nylon filaments or staple fibers with other fibers, which have both the characteristics and advantages of each fiber. Although the texture is not as strong and solid as Lycra fabric, its elasticity and softness are comparable to Lycra. It is currently the most commonly used swimwear fabric and is suitable for mid-priced products.
2. DuPont Lycra - is a man-made elastic fiber with excellent elasticity. It can stretch 4 to 7 times freely, and when the external force is released, it quickly returns to its original length with excellent stretch. Suitable for blending with various fibers for enhanced texture drape and wrinkle resistance. DuPont Lycra with chlorine-resistant ingredients will give swimsuits a longer lifespan than ordinary swimsuits.
3. Polyester fabric - Polyester fabric is a chemical fiber clothing fabric used in daily life, which is a unilateral and two-way stretched ductile fabric. Due to the limited elasticity, it is not suitable for one-piece styles. Most of them are used in swimming trunks or women's swimsuits. Its biggest advantage is that it has good wrinkle resistance and shape retention, so it is suitable for wearing in the sun.
4. Spandex yarn - It has high elasticity and is usually not spun alone. It is often blended with Lycra, nylon and polyester fabrics. The composition of high-quality commercial spandex yarn is more than 18%.
Don't underestimate the swimsuits of these fabrics. The right choice of swimsuits can help you swim more freely. Swimsuits that are too large are easy to get in the water, increase the burden on the body, and also cause resistance when swimming. A swimsuit that is too small is easy to strangle the limbs, resulting in poor blood flow.
